The Bloomsburg Fair, Bloomsburg, Pa. - Friday, September 27th, 2024
It’s getting really hard for me to find different things that I haven’t tried at the fair. There are a few items below that were new to me, but overall, I got what I liked today since it’s my last day for the year.
Lapps Pretzel Co. - D Avenue & 12th St.
Ham & Cheese Stuffed Pretzel - 10/10. Better and cheaper than Uncle Pauls. THE KING OF THE STUFFED PRETZELS…THE BEST!
HORRS SPECIALTY HOT DOGS - D Avenue & 8th St.
Pickle Dog - 9/10
Corn Dog - 9/10
I always want to try some of the other items here, but I can’t help but to get the Pickle Dog everytime.
Top of the Beef - B Avenue & 5th St.
Beef Sandwich - 8/10
I asked for medium again and it was more medium well/well. I think if you go here, you’ll want to ask for medium rare to get a good cut.
Gunzeys - C avenue & 3rd St.
Hot Sausage - 10/10. THE KING OF THE HOT SAUSAGE…THE BEST!
I even got one to take home. They didn’t have any sausage kits this year, so now I’ll have to wait until next year to have another one. This ruined my day :(
Edith’s Pot Pie - D Avenue & 4th St.
Chicken Pot Pie - 8.5/10
Chili - 2/10. This is sweet chili, and it’s gross, threw it right in the trash. Why the hell do people make sweet chili? It’s gross. It’s not even chili.
McCormick’s Homemade Soup - C Avenue & 4th St.
Chicken Pot Pie - 9/10.
I feel like I always rated Edith’s better, but this year, the Chicken Pot Pie here was banging. It was piping hot and was almost perfect.
Belly Busters - C Avenue & 4th St.
Hot Wings - 10/10. THE KING OF THE WINGS…THE BEST!
These are amazing. It is cooked to perfection, has a nice little kick and the sauce is outstanding. I rated it a 9.5 the other day, but these really deserve a 10.
The Best Iced Tea - C Ave. and 9th St.
Sweet Tea - 10/10. THE KING OF THE ICE TEA…THE BEST!
The next best place for tea is Sweet Pickins corn stand over by the rides.
Pig Pickin Cafe - C Avenue & 7th St.
Rice Pudding - 8/10
This was good, not as good as mine, and not as good as Sweet Pickins sweet corn stand, over by the rides.
Signature Sips - D Avenue & 7th St.
Peach Dream - 8/10
This wasn’t overly sweet and was very refreshing. I put the peach rings in the drink and let it sit for awhile, it really changed the flavor and sweetened it up.
Bissingers - B Avenue & 3rd St.
Peach Dumpling with Cinnamon Ice Cream - 10/10. THE KING OF THE DUMPLINGS…THE BEST!
I think everyone knows that Bissingers is the best for both Apple and Peach Dumplings. Haven’t had one better.
Bissingers - B Avenue and 3rd St. (On the Midway)
Vegetable Beef Soup - 10-/10. THE KING OF THE VEGETABLE BEEF SOUP…THE BEST!
I really tried to find better soup throughout the fair but couldn’t find it. They deserve a 10/10; it’s consistent year after year.
Maddy’s Doghouse - E Avenue & 5th St.
Hot Sausage - 3/10. It had a good kick, but it was barely warm and when I bit into it, I was questioning if it was even cooked because it had that snap where it’s kinda hard to chew, like when sausage isn’t done. I do think it was cooked, but it was pre-cooked, and they just warmed it up.
I really wanted to try the dog bowl, but I don’t think I can after how bad the sausage was. I had to throw most of it away.
KolaR Pumpkin Waffles - E Avenue & 7th St.
Pumpkin Waffles - 10/10. THE KING OF THE PUMPKIN WAFFLES…THE BEST!
This stand and the older couple that run it have been a staple at the fair for a very long time. I always get these on the last day and take them home.
Hewletts - E Avenue & 7th St.
Hot Sausage - 8/10
This is probably a 2nd place sausage behind Gunzeys. There are tons of Hewletts stands throughout the fair and they’re not all consistent. Look for the stands with the sausage sitting in the juices instead of sitting there on a pile looking all dry.
