2024 Christkindl Market, Mifflinburg, PA.

Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania hosts a yearly, three day Christkindl Market downtown. It’s a decent sized festival and is worth a trip if you are in the area. It took me about 45 minutes to get there, and it was well worth the drive.

Admission is free and parking can be a bit hard to find, although there was plenty at the start of the festival at the community park. There is also street side parking throughout the town, but you may need to walk a bit. I’m told that you can get a shuttle to the festival from a church on route 45, but I’m not sure exactly where it’s located.

The festival hosts many different food items, most of which are German themed. There are also several stands that sell alcohol. There are a lot of Christmas themed arts and crafts, and even German pyramids and coo-coo clocks. The event also hosts live Christmas music and a puppet show.

If you plan on attending, dress warm, and try to get there as the event opens. It was already packed around noon on the last day, so bring your patience as well.

THE RATINGS:

  • Beef Vegetable Soup- 5/10. Had a weird flavor and was barely warm.

  • Union County 4-H Club - Bacon Cheese Fries: 9/10. Surprisingly delicious.

  • Byler’s Foods - Knackwurst: 7.5/10

  • Black forest Beef Sandwich: 7.5/10. I was expecting more, but it was still good. It wasn’t that warm either, but the temp was below freezing today.

  • German Mushrooms: 3/10. These tasted like a barn smells.

  • German Potato Pancakes: 7.5/10. The put too much applesauce on it, and the applesauce was not homemade.
